Dr. Jess Hunter attended NCSU’s College of Veterinary Medicine, graduating in 2003. She was drawn out of state to continue her education by completing a rotating internship in internal medicine, surgery, and emergency medicine at Long Island Veterinary Specialists in Plainview, New York, and a surgical internship at the Dallas Veterinary Surgical Center in Dallas, Texas. After working primary emergency medicine in Dallas for six months, the bug for adventure motivated Dr. Hunter to relocate to Los Angeles, where she continued to work as a primary emergency veterinarian for the next seven and a half years. Many adventures later, Dr. Hunter felt it was time to be closer to family and familiarity. She moved to the Charlotte area in 2013 to pursue continuing opportunities in ER medicine. Here she found two excellent, like-minded emergencies veterinarians, and the partnership that currently runs CEVC was formed in 2018. Dr. Hunter enjoys competing in canine agility with her Mexican dingo, Jackson, leisure biking on the greenways with her husband and kiddos, and anything that involves algorithmic problem solving.
